Chief Financial Officer
Reporting directly to the President and Director, the CFO has overall responsibility and oversight for several operations of the Press; accounting (including accounts receivable, credit & collections), client distribution, information systems, budgeting, treasury, physical plant; will work with Director and senior managers in defining and executing Press policies and strategic plans; will report monthly on Press financial performance to Press management and as needed to Columbia University Press Board of Trustees. Will maintain open communications and operational transparency with senior University Budget and Finance professionals. Will work closely with Director on issues relating to University relations and communication.
The CFO will maintain an office in the Irvington facility and one at 61 West 62nd Street during transition of the distribution business; henceforth fulltime in NYC.
MBA or CPA required with 7 years experience in publishing and financial accounting plus 5 years of senior management, strategic financial analysis and new business planning. Experience in university budget administration and tax matters a plus as well as a demonstrated ability to manage for deadlines and working timetables.
Strong IT and demonstrated proficiency with publishing ERP systems and systems conversion preferred.

Internship in the Subsidiary Rights Department
The Subsidiary Rights Department is seeking a motivated intern for the fall. Interest in the legal aspects of publishing is beneficial. Candidates need to be available 10-15hrs per week. The position will provide basic instruction in intellectual property rights and training in contracts. There will be some correspondence with foreign publishers. Candidates should be detail-oriented, and possess excellent computer skills with a solid understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel. The internship is unpaid but may qualify for course credit.
