About the Author

András Gerö is professor of history and chairman of the Department of History at Budapest University. He is also a professor of history at Central European University and the director of the Institute of Habsburg History. His books include Hungarian Illusionism; The Jewish Criterion in Hungary; Imagined History; The Emperor Francis Joseph, King of the Hungarians; and The Hungarian Parliament (1867-1918): A Mirage of Power.
