About the Author

Robert Barnett is lecturer in modern Tibetan studies at Columbia University and a former teacher at Tibet University. He is the editor or author of Resistance and Reform in Tibet; A Poisoned Arrow: The Secret Petition of the 10th Panchen Lama; and other works. He has also worked as a journalist for the BBC, the South China Morning Post, the Independent, and other publications.
