About the Author

Timothy Hodgdon has taught U.S. history at St. Thomas University (Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada) and North Carolina State University. He was also awarded an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation teaching fellowship in the First-Year Writing Program at Duke University. He now serves as moderator of the H-Net discussion list H-Communal-Societies, and as an independent scholar pursues research on the reciprocal influence of gender and movements for social change after World War II.
